The EDFL has announced today that Rowan Sawers has been appointed to the recently vacated role of field umpires coach. Rowan umpired 410 AFL/VFL games, including 4 grand finals and spent 16 years as the head coach of the AFL umpires. This is a major coup for our umpiring group as we now have the second most experienced field umpire in the history of the game (behind Hayden Kennedy) coaching us. Rowan will be at training this Tuesday night so all current and past umpires are encouraged to come down and meet Rowan as we look forward to what will undoubtedly be a very enjoyable year ahead!
